Flamengo updates Alan Franco's injury.
The Flamengo football club has announced that the team's star forward, Alan Franco, is out for several weeks with a knee injury.
The Brazilian striker suffered the injury during training on Monday and underwent surgery to repair the damage to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The team said in a statement that Franco will be out of action for "a period" but added that he would make a full recovery.
Flamengo coach Jorge Jesus expressed his disappointment at the news, saying: "It's very sad because we had high expectations for Alan this season."
The club also confirmed that they have signed Brazilian defender Gustavo Poyet on loan from Internacional until the end of the year.
Poyet, who has played for clubs including Santos and Palmeiras,Saudi Pro League Focus is expected to add depth to the team's defence as they look to maintain their position in the top flight of Brazilian football.
In other news, Flamengo also confirmed that midfielder Bruno Henrique has been ruled out for six months after suffering a serious ankle injury in a match against Palmeiras last month.
However, the club has not yet announced when or if Bruno will return to training.
Overall, it seems that the injury to Alan Franco could be a setback for Flamengo in what is already shaping up to be a tough season. However, the club's commitment to rehabilitation and signing new players suggests that they are still confident of making a strong challenge for the title come the end of the season.
